Dear Montreal,

Why can't Toronto be more like you? And share your bagel and smoked meat with the rest of Canada, I hate driving there for 6 hours just to get some.

Dear Montreal,

Enough of your language BS. You are the best city in the world stop trying to ruin it for yourself.

Urban Planning & Public Space

Dear Montreal,

The economic downturn kiboshed all plans for big box stores in Griffintown - much to my relief. You've a real chance to develop the waterfront as a space that is green, welcoming, restful, secure, exciting & accessible, that the many denizens of Griffintown (and the rest of the city) can enjoy for many years to come. Please don't mess this up. Suggestions: public playspaces for all ages, picnic tables, bike paths & bike parking, skating rinks, busking spaces, shade trees, art installations.

Transportation

Dear Montreal,

Why can't you take all of the money you spend on orange construction cones and use it to: a) get the Metro to run after 1:00 a.m. (at least on weekends), b) save the Bixi from its looming financial collapse, and c) buy a dunk tank for Pauline Marois.

Dear Montreal,

I love that within half an hour of metro-travel, I can be in a different & beautiful part of the city. Start at Jean-Talon, walk through the market, enjoy the picnic goodies in Jarry Park. Start at de l'Eglise, walk Wellington, grab a sandwich, have it by the waterfront. Start at Guy-Concordia & Chinatown 2, walk downtown through to Place des Arts then angle down to Old Montreal via Chinatown 1. Food trucks, fireworks, & freely shared art - the public pianos this summer were amazing!

Dear Montreal,

Actually, you're like that racist 'hot girl' from high school... but at the high school reunion... 40 years later. Crumbling façade - best times behind you. Now, without the charm of youth to help apologize for your backwards notions, you're just a grumpy old bigot chasing ethic kids off your precious lawn.

Dear Montreal,

I applaud your initiatives to make the city more bicycle-friendly, now if only your drivers could do the same... May I suggest having separate traffic lights for bicycle and automobile traffic at busy intersections? It would mean a slightly longer wait, but it would be much safer for all.
